Appalachian Section Trail Hike Grayson Highlands to Damascus May 2020

At least once a year, I take time off from the work schedule to get some some much needed trail therapy.

This year, I planed to a hike from Grayson Highlands State Part to Damascus. The following year I hiked from Damascus Virginia to Dennis Cove. A good friend, Janet provided trail magic by helping me drop my truck and hitch a ride to allow accomplishment of these section hikes.

I enjoy the time alone on the trail. It allows my mind to be awed by nature and think and ponder life’s mysteries. This hike was a total opposite of last years. As I was dropped off at Grayson Highlands State Park, the clouds were already gathering into a gray gloom.

One of the aspects of hiking I truly enjoy is roughing it. Pitting myself against the elements of anything Mother Nature can throw at me. This section hike tested my the limits.

This was my third visit to Grayson Highlands State Park, I love the area. The weather fo my hike was abysmal. Rain and wind every day. But I immensely enjoyed.
